A Master Electrician Certificate is valid for the length of time specified in it, unless it is cancelled, or suspended earlier by the Administrator of the Master Electrician Program. An expired, cancelled, or suspended Master Electrician Certificate cancels all permit privileges under the Safety Codes Act and the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
All Alberta Master Electricians are required to renew their certification annually. Renewal letters are sent out by the Safety Codes Council two months prior to the Master's expiration date. Cancellation letters are sent out at the end of the expiration month.
