The hearing is a formal meeting where you will have a chance to present your case. You are expected to provide the panel with facts to support your case in a clear manner and to explain how the Safety Codes Act (including related regulations and codes) supports your case.
Prior to the hearing you will be asked to provide a copy of your appeal hearing brief. If you are proposing an alternative solution to what is required by the safety codes, ensure that you provide information to support that your alternative solution provides equivalent or greater safety performance with respect to persons and property as provided for by the Safety Codes Act and safety codes.
Your appeal will be heard by a panel of not less than three (3) Council members in a room setup similar to the diagram above. Recording devices are not allowed in the hearing room.
