Orders

​​​Orders under the Safety Codes Act come in the following 3 categories:
 
Issued by a safety codes officer
  • Orders are issued in respect to achieving or enforcing the legislated safety codes rules.
  • These orders contain what is to be done (or not be done), references the code rule, and stipulates the time frame the directive is to achieved within.  
  • These are subject to review at no fee should the recipient of the order wish. Directions on how to make this request is contained on the order.  
  • These are appealable to the Safety Codes Council.

Issued by an Administrator
  • The Administrator of Accreditation issues an order in the granting of accreditation to organizations, amending accreditations, or suspending or cancelling accreditation.
  • The Technical Administrator may issue an order in respect to enforcement of legislated rules the same as a safety codes officer, an enforcement order contains what is to be done or not done, references the code or legislated rule, and stipulates the time frame the directive is to be achieved within.  
  • These are appealable to the Safety Codes Council.

Issued by the Safety Codes Council
  • These are usually in the form of Appeal Tribunal decisions.
  • These are appealable to Court of Queen’s Bench on matter of law or jurisdiction.
 
All orders are registered at the Safety Codes Council. A search for a specific orders may be done by making request to the Safety Codes Council. A nominal fee for this service applies.
