Who We Are
The Alberta Safety Codes Authority (ASCA) is a division of the Safety Codes Council. We serve the approximately 300,000 Albertans who live in unaccredited areas of the province.
ASCA ensures that Albertans in these areas receive the same high level of service and accountability as those living in accredited areas.
Maintaining Standards
ASCA oversees the provision of permit-related services under the Safety Codes Act that are not under the administration of an accredited municipality, regional commission or corporation.
Partnering with accredited agencies, ASCA oversees permitting and inspections services in the Building, Electrical, Gas, Plumbing, and Private Sewage disciplines, offering:
- Standardized permit fees, meaning no matter which agency you contract your permit cost will be the same.
- Consistent turnaround times on plans reviews and permit applications, meaning you can plan your construction project with confidence.
- Timely project inspections and follow-up, meaning your projects will not be put on hold for an inspection, and deficiencies can be corrected as efficiently as possible.
- Standardized and easy to follow applications, checklists, and templates, meaning you will never get lost in paperwork.
Giving You Flexibility
ASCA contracts a number of accredited agencies to provide compliance monitoring services throughout the province so you can select a service provider that works for you.
Agencies issue permits, perform inspections, and provide frontline customer service throughout your construction process.
You can search for Council’s contracted accredited agencies in our database.
