Professional Schedules STANDATA Variance 19-BVC-024
This variance recognizes the attached schedules of professional involvement as an alternative solution to the requirements in Articles 2.4.3.1, 2.4.3.2. and 2.4.4.1. of Division C of the National Building Code – 2019 Alberta Edition (NBC(AE)).
The schedules of professional involvement were first introduced in the 1997 Edition of the Alberta Building Code (ABC 1997) at the request of the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA) and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Only minor revisions have been made to the schedules of professional involvement since their introduction 1997.
The requirements for the schedules of professional involvement are contained in Articles 2.4.3.1., 2.4.3.2. and 2.4.4.1. of Division C of the NBC(AE) and the schedules of professional involvement are provided in Appendix B of the NBC(AE).
AAA and APEGA reviewed the schedules of professional involvement in the NBC(AE) and provided Municipal Affairs with revised schedules of professional involvement for use in the Alberta safety codes system. The revised schedules of professional involvement contain major changes to the content, including a different process from what is required by Section 2.4. of Division C of the NBC(AE).
