Entry Qualifications

- Journeyperson elevator constructor.
- Professional engineer with four years of relevant experience.

Entry Qualifications
One of the following:
- A journeyperson elevator constructor certificate or recognized equivalent.
- Two years of experience in maintenance and repair of devices for the applicable groups.
- Certification as an Elevators Group A Level 1 and Group B Level 1 Safety Codes Officer.
- Meet the requirements of the Standard Qualifications of Elevator Inspectors (ASMA-QE-1).

Periodic/regular in-service inspections.

Entry Qualifications

Continuing Education
All safety codes officers must complete 30 continuing education credits over three years to renew their certification. For discipline-specific continuing education resources, explore the Council’s education resources.

- Elevators Sub-Council: Members meet to discuss issues in the industry.
- Alberta Elevating Devices & Amusement Rides Safety Association (AEDARSA): Responsible for ensuring all elevating devices, amusement rides, and passenger ropeways in Alberta comply with provincial safety codes and regulations.
- National Elevators and Escalators Association (NEEA): Works to advance the interests of the elevator industry.
- Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA): Industry organization for independent elevator contractors and vertical lift suppliers.
