Overview

If you hold an equivalent master electrician certification from another province, you may qualify for the interprovincial exam. The interprovincial exam is a two-hour test on the roles and responsibilities of a master electrician under Alberta legislation. It does not test technical knowledge.

If you have a journeyperson certificate in the trade of electrician from another province, you are considered a standard exam applicant. View the Master Electrician Exam page for more information.
Credentials from countries outside of Canada are not considered eligible equivalents to write the interprovincial exam.
If you have an international credential and want to become certified in Alberta, contact Apprenticeship and Industry Training.

*Note: If you hold FSR B, your master electrician licence will hold the same voltage restriction.
