Safety Codes Council publishes new strategy and 2026–2030 Corporate Plan

Our strategy sets a bold new direction for the Council, and our rolling five-year corporate plan provides the path for delivering real, measurable value for Alberta.

Today, the Safety Codes Council (the Council) is pleased to share Elevate Alberta, our new strategy, along with our 2026–2030 Corporate Plan.

Our strategy sets a bold new direction for the Council — one rooted in our belief that as a leader in Alberta’s structural and technical safety system, our role not only makes our province safer, but also gives Alberta the competitive edge.

Our winning aspiration is to be a world-class safety codes leader that ensures public safety, drives prosperity, and enables a competitive advantage for Alberta.

As an independent regulatory agency, the Council is mandated to play a key role in ensuring Alberta’s structures and equipment are, and our strategy outlines what we want to achieve and our decisions on how we can achieve it through our mandate.

A strategy built for a changing Alberta

Our strategy is intentionally adaptive rather than time‑bound, supported by a rolling five‑year corporate plan that keeps us responsive and accountable as Alberta evolves.

Our corporate plan puts our strategy into action, outlining the initiatives that will deliver measurable value across four key outcomes: public safety, prosperity, competitive advantage, and world-class leadership.

From our board chair
“Our built environments are more than four walls and equipment—they’re the places where people put down roots, create opportunities, and build Alberta’s future. That’s why our strategy sets a bold new direction for the Council: it’s about leadership for a safe, prosperous, and competitive Alberta.”
Jill Matthew, Board Chair

From our president and CEO
“The Safety Codes Council was built on a bold idea: bring expertise together for Albertans. With this new strategy, we can work at the speed of our province’s innovators and investors. When Alberta wins, we all win.”
Rob Bennett, President & CEO
