New Professional Involvement course modules now available
As construction projects become increasingly complex, decisions about when and how to involve professionals may become challenging.
The Safety Codes Council is developing a new Professional Involvement Course that addresses professional involvement requirements, including when and how they should be applied by Building Safety Codes Officers. Three modules of this course are now available for learners.
Designed for new and experienced safety codes officers, the course will ensure that Building Safety Codes Officers are equipped with the knowledge and guidance on professional involvement requirements.
Through eight total modules, this new course will provide learners with practical knowledge and skills grounded in real-world situations that support engaging learning and deep understanding of professional involvement.
In this course, learners will gain knowledge to:
- Identify situations where professional involvement may be required.
- Understand the role of regulated professionals in construction projects.
- Apply professional involvement requirements in real-world scenarios.
- Make informed and consistent decisions in day-to-day practice.
The first three modules of the course are available at no cost. Additional modules will be released in future phases, creating a comprehensive learning resource to support Building Safety Codes Officers throughout their careers.
The release of this course aligns with the Council’s role in the safety codes system as an educator, giving safety codes officers the learning and skills needed to ensure public safety across Alberta.
