Holiday Closure

The Safety Codes Council will be closed for the holidays starting Friday, December 25. We will reopen on January 4, 2021, though our physical location will remain closed to the public.

Information for Safety Codes Officers & Master Electricians

If you have an SCO or Master Electrician exam scheduled for the end of December, your mark will be available in mid-January.

Note that, if your exam is scheduled during our office closure, we will be unable to help you should you experience technical difficulties.

During this period, there may be mailing delays for receiving physical copies of certification cards. PDF copies of cards, certificates, and DOPs are available on Council Connect. For more information, click here.

Information for Accredited Organizations

If you have an accreditation application in process, you can check its status on your organization’s dashboard in Council Connect. You can also contact us. Note that we will not respond until the Council re-opens on January 4, 2021.

The 2019 Annual Internal Reviews (AIR) are due by December 31, 2020. If you have not filed an AIR for 2019, please do so as soon as possible. The AIR is submitted through your organization’s dashboard in Council Connect.

The 2020 AIR will be available for submission in January 2021. You will receive a notice by email once it has been released and can be completed in Council Connect.

Accredited agencies and corporations will receive an invoice for their 2021 Annual Fees in the first week of January. The invoice will be posted to the accredited organization’s dashboard in Council Connect. Please remit your payment to the Council upon receipt of the invoice.

Agency annual fees are based on the number of active designation of powers (DOPs) listed in Council Connect for the safety codes officers and permit issuers employed with your agency per discipline.

Corporate annual fees are based on three factors:

  • Number of staff
  • Number of industrial sites
  • The size of the largest industrial site

Based on these factors, the corporation is rated to be in a low, medium, or high risk category.
