New Permit Applications & Fee Schedule for ASCA Clients
Some recent changes impact safety codes administration in unaccredited areas of the province.
New ASCA Fee Schedule
On January 1, 2022, ASCA implemented a new fee structure that reduces the complexity of the calculation model, ensures consistency across fee types, reduces administrative burdens for organizations, and improves transparency for applicants.
As a result of a detailed review of permit fees in unaccredited areas of the province, these changes were made to the fee schedule:
- Establishing a Minimum Permit Fee across the disciplines
- Relocatable Industrial Structures (Camps): standardizes permit fees based on the size of the accommodations, taking into consideration that the “buildings” were constructed in a certified facility
- Electrical Systems, Residential Installations (Single Family Dwellings and Accessory Buildings) and Farm Buildings: permit fee is now based on the area of installation (previously project value)
- Value of Electrical Installation fee categories have been reduced to simplify tables and reduce administrative errors
- Introduced a new method of calculating permit fees with electrical installations with a value greater than $500,000 to reduce permit fees for large scale projects
- Introduced a new method of calculating permit fees with gas installations with a value greater than 200 000 000 BTU to reduce permit fees for large scale projects
- Introduced a new work permit fee calculation to more accurately reflect fees for service as per scope of work in Storage Tank System installations.
