National Building Code – 2023 Alberta Edition: Code Update Requirement & Resources

The National Building Code – 2023 Alberta Edition has been published and will come into force on May 1, 2024, and a building code update requirement has been established.

To support safety codes officers through this code change and the associated code update requirement, the Council has made some initial resources available, along with many other resources offered by the Government and partner organizations. More resources will be added to this page as they become available.

The code update requirement for all building safety codes officers will be to review the Alberta Municipal Affairs Part 9 Comparison document and pass a short quiz on these code changes. All building safety codes officers will be enrolled automatically via Council Connect when the quiz is available in Spring 2024.
