Welcome to the Safety Codes Council

The Safety Codes Council and its partners have been managing the safety codes system in Alberta since 1991. We are unique in Canada. No other province has an organization responsible for accrediting the municipalities, corporations and agencies that sell permits and inspect the work carried out under these permits; certify and train Safety Codes Officers who do the inspections; develop, enhance and support Information Technology safety system applications; and provide administrative support.

The Council consists of several business units:

• Administrative (Accounting, Meetings and Communications)

The Safety Codes Council's success is due to the dedicated volunteers who work on the Board Coordinating Committee, Technical Coordinating Committee and the Sub-Councils. Their specialized knowledge is the key to ensuring the safety system works in Alberta.
